In 2020 Ford goes to the carbon

Ford Motor Company plans to use carbon fiber for the entire model range. Available materials of carbon fiber will be developed in conjunction with the USA Car company Dow Automotive Systems. According to top managers of Ford, the use of new composite materials will improve the safety performance and quality of the mass models, as well as significantly reduce the weight of the car -they "lose weight" of about 340 kg. These actions are aimed at reducing fuel consumption and emissions into the atmosphere. The first "light" cars begin to roll off the assembly line in 2020.

As we reported earlier, the automakers are forced to do these steps in order to fit into the framework of environmental regulations. In particular, according to regulatory documents of the European Union in the future, carbon emissions must not exceed 95 g / km by 2020 and thus must meet stringent requirements of all cars sold in the EU.
